Kontron continues to benefit from strong outsourcing trend

Design win of over $100 million for ATCA technology and further major order in the gaming area

Eching, Munich, April 6, 2009. Kontron AG continues to experience very strong demand in important application areas despite the global economic crisis. One of the largest international telecoms equipment suppliers has selected the world's leading provider of embedded computer systems to supply it in the future with platforms using the latest ATCA technology. "Advanced Telecommunications Computer Architecture" manages the backbone infrastructure of telecommunications networks in a particularly rapid and reliable manner. This design win in the important future area of telecommunications has a total volume of over $100 million, and is intended to run for a period of at least five years.

Kontron has also won a further specific order in the classic gaming application area: one of the world's leading manufacturers of gaming machines will equip its latest product generation with Kontron technology. The $18 million order comprises the development and production of corresponding platforms based on ETX modules and Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and is intended to enter its start-up phase by as early as next year. "These new transactions prove once again that, particularly in periods of crisis, companies have confidence in our cost-effective and high-performance systems, and are investing in reliable products," commented Kontron CEO Ulrich Gehrmann.
